A Cup of Pain

I remember when I was offered the opportunity to become a Singles Pastor. What wonderful excitement to know that the Lord had gauged me fit to serve in an esteemed capacity. I asked Him what would be the foundation of the ministry and the answer was spiritual maturity, moral integrity and financial prosperity. Although the joy was real, I could not help remembering at times the intermittent anguish and frustration of other pastors and leaders as they worked to impart godly wisdom and encouragement to their members. At times it seemed that nothing would produce the desired results for some.I have experienced some of those same unmet expectations as I have listened and prayed for a resolution to a host of challenges that seem to engulf too many of God's sons and daughters. I have wondered why people who are devoted to serving the Lord have to endure so many trials and suffer seemingly so unjustly. Spiritually, emotionally, physically and financially, the scales of justice seem to be … [Read more...]

THE POWER OF MY OWN NAME

I know a little girl whose first name means “God’s Unique Glory” and her middle name means “Overcome and Victorious”. Even as a toddler, this little Girl was trained to understand the meaning and significance of her assigned name. The Lord would give her confirmations as she grew in him and chronologically developed. She was excited to learn that this name was divinely given to her Mommy when her Mommy was only 8 years old. This confirmed to her that the Lord Jesus had chosen this name just for her to uniquely glorify Him. Now as a Teen, she is a brilliant dancer who decorates music with divine motions that surely glorifies her Lord continually as this anointing overflows into the full spectrum of all of her soul and life. The power of the “NICE” of her name has full charge of her existence. You are probably asking what is the “NICE” of a name. I will tell you very soon what the “NICE” is but first I need to tell you of someone who unknowingly and … [Read more...]

The Secret Chamber

Locked deep within the heart of every Christian man or woman is a place where few people have been given the rite of passage way. This place I have termed the “secret chamber.” Secret because it is hidden away from the rest of the house and remains invisible to others. Chamber because it is only one room tucked away within the house or temple of a man. 1 Cor. 3:16 reads "Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you." Truly we are the human temples of God and He lives within us. We have a responsibility to take care of every part of this temple because it is a godly habitation in which the Lord dwells. Rite of passage rights have been given away to people who have had no other plans than to abandon or to reject us after their selfish goals have been accomplished. This secret chamber is a very delicate or fragile room within the heart that requires certain qualifications to be met before entry. Out of desperation and a desirous … [Read more...]

Don’t Carry Dirty

A while ago, my Son Bobby and I were talking about people who had a history or carrying guns for defense. Our Son presently has 17 years in the Air Force so guns would be very comfortable and natural for him to carry a gun with a Texas License. We discussed one person we both knew very intimately who had a long history of carrying a gun. Bobby explained to me that that man “carried dirty”. I said “what do you mean?” and he explained Texas Gun Laws to me and how many violated those laws. That is where the phrase “Carrying dirty” comes because it refers to those who carry a gun without legal permission or licensure. That phrase stayed with me and I thought about the Gospel and how so many Christians in the Church of Jesus Christ also “carry dirty”. At Redemptive Christian Counseling, we are counseling so many Christians who have or had moral sin in their lives. One lady in particular, I counseled many years ago, who was a wonderful Wife and stay-at-home Mother. … [Read more...]
